The nation's more than 190,000 miles of liquid pipelines and over 300,000 miles of natural gas pipelines, which are the primary means of moving petroleum products to consumer markets. Pipelines are safe, efficient and, because most are buried, largely unseen.
IPT owns, leases or has ownership interests in approximately 8,300 miles of pipeline, which includes approximately 2,900 miles owned or leased through
IPT delivered approximately 2.1 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum products daily through its common carrier pipelines in 2014, of which approximately 1.9 mmbpd were delivered through pipelines. High-speed computers, constantly evolving technology and satellite communications enable the company to monitor and control its many pipeline systems throughout the U.S. from a single control center in Northwest Ohio.
International Petroleum Trading also has partial ownership interests in several pipeline companies that have approximately 840 miles of crude oil pipelines and 3,600 miles of refined products pipelines, including about 1,600 miles operated by MPC.
